Common Agrihood & Community Farming Terms

Agrihood living comes with its own language. Explore the terms that define how we grow, share, and connect at The Grow.

 

A

Agmenity
The working farm at the heart of The Grow will be managed by Agmenity, a team of professional farm educators who specialize in cultivating community farms and creating thriving agricultural spaces.
Agrihood
A residential community centered around agriculture, often featuring shared gardens, farms, or food-focused amenities that foster connection and sustainability.
Amenitized Stormwater Facilities
Stormwater ponds and systems intentionally designed as natural habitats—featuring native plantings, scenic overlooks, and ecological enhancements. At The Grow, these spaces manage water responsibly while creating beautiful, wildlife-friendly areas for residents to enjoy.
Artisan Foods
Locally crafted, small-batch goods made with care and creativity. These foods celebrate regional flavor and complement the farm-fresh experiences found throughout The Grow.

Community Events
Seasonal celebrations, hands-on workshops, and neighborly gatherings that bring residents together. These events are woven into the heart of The Grow, strengthening community connections through shared experiences.
Community Garden
In this thriving garden space—led by Agmenity’s Farm Team—residents come together to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers side by side. At The Grow, the community garden reflects the agrihood’s mission of bringing people closer to nature, fostering stewardship, and cultivating a vibrant, edible landscape that residents can enjoy and contribute to all year long.
Conservation Area
Protected natural spaces that preserve wildlife habitats and maintain ecological balance. These areas are essential to The Grow’s mission of living lightly on the land while celebrating its natural beauty.
Cover Crop
Plants intentionally grown for the benefit and enrichment of soil that help support the farm’s long-term health and production as well as providing habitat and other benefits for the local ecosystem.
Crop Rotation
A mindful farming practice where different crops are planted in succession, enriching the soil naturally. At The Grow, crop rotation helps ensure healthier harvests and a thriving, sustainable farm ecosystem.
CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between a farm and its community, where households can purchase a share of the season’s harvest. At The Grow, we refer to this as our Farm Share Program.
Culinary Workshops
Interactive classes that guide residents through cooking techniques, seasonal recipes, and ingredient-driven meals. Culinary workshops help deepen appreciation for the farm and the flavors that grow from it.

Demonstration Garden
A living classroom where residents can explore gardening techniques, learn about Florida-friendly plants, and gain confidence in growing their own food. It embodies The Grow’s spirit of learning and connection through nature.

Event Lawn
Impromptu play, sunlit picnics, and community-wide celebrations all bloom with life and laughter on our Event Lawn, an open meadow designed for joyful moments.

Farm Club
The Farm Club is a residents-only program that gives neighbors their very own garden space at The Grow, including guidance and support from the farm team. Farm Club members will receive seeds, transplants, compost, fertilizer, garden tools, and more, plus an invitation to members-only programs and events that celebrate the joys of planting, growing, and thriving together.
Farm Educators

Farm Share Program
The Farm Share Program—also known as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)— is The Grow’s exclusive, residents-only membership program that invites neighbors to savor just-picked harvests and feel even more connected to the land they call home.
Farm Stand
Located at the entrance of The Grow and open to the public, the Farm Stand will be where neighbors and visitors alike can purchase the season’s freshest produce, fragrant herbs, and vibrant flowers.
Farm-to-Table
A culinary approach that celebrates the journey from field to plate, featuring fresh ingredients grown on local farms—including those right here at The Grow. It highlights seasonal eating, supports local growers, and deepens the community’s connection to the land.
Farmhouse-Inspired Architecture
A seamless blend of timeless rural charm and modern comfort. At The Grow, these architectural elements create a warm, inviting aesthetic that honors the community’s agricultural roots.
Fieldhouse
The HOA-led Fieldhouse is an additional space for neighbors to connect, relax, and play. Featuring a swimming pool, lounge areas, recreation spaces, and more, the Fieldhouse makes everyday life feel vibrant and full of possibilities for residents of The Grow.

The Gathering Barn
Blending rustic charm and modern comfort, The Gathering Barn is a private event space designed for celebrating life’s special occasions in vintage farmhouse style. Complete with a full catering kitchen and indoor bar, this picture-perfect spot is where gatherings flourish and a lifetime of memories can truly bloom.

The Harvest Barn
The Harvest Barn is where residents can pick up the sweetest flavors of The Grow, from freshly picked offerings and locally made goods to their share of the CSA harvest. (Our CSA—or Community Supported Agriculture—is a program that allows residents to buy shares of the farm’s harvest and enjoy just-picked goodness all season long).
Harvest Box
For residents who join the Farm Share program, the Harvest Box holds their share of fresh farm flavors, artisanal goods, and local offerings—thoughtfully curated to reflect ever-changing seasonal abundance.
Health-Forward Amenities
Amenities intentionally designed to support balanced, wellness-centered living—whether through access to fresh foods, active outdoor spaces, or moments of quiet connection with nature.
Heirloom Produce
Time-honored fruits and vegetables passed down through generations for their rich flavor and character. Grown with care, heirloom produce brings authenticity and taste to The Grow’s farm experience.

Native Landscaping
Landscaping that features plants naturally adapted to Central Florida’s climate. Native landscaping supports local wildlife, reduces water use, and reinforces The Grow’s nature-first design philosophy.
Nature Trails
Meandering paths that wind through fields, groves, and natural landscapes. These trails invite residents to explore, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the peaceful beauty that defines life at The Grow.

Pollinator Garden
An intentionally planted garden that welcomes bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators essential to healthy crops. These vibrant spaces help sustain The Grow’s farm and enrich the entire landscape.

Showcase Gardens
Farm Educators from Agmenity manage and maintain these spaces throughout The Grow, designed to “showcase” seasonal offerings and nature’s bounty.
Silo Bar
From storing harvests to hosting toasts, the charmingly rustic grain silo has been reimagined as a warm and welcoming bar for neighborly gatherings. Bring your favorite drink and linger, laugh, and lift a glass to life’s simplest pleasures.
Sustainable Agriculture
Farming methods that nurture the land—protecting soil health, conserving water, and reducing environmental impact. It’s the foundation of The Grow’s commitment to long-term stewardship and responsible food production.

Teaching Kitchen
A welcoming culinary space where cooking classes, tastings, and chef-led experiences come to life. The Teaching Kitchen turns The Grow’s fresh harvests into delicious discoveries for residents of all ages.
Trails & Bike Paths for Sustainable Mobility
A connected network of pedestrian and bicycle routes that encourage eco-friendly transportation throughout the community. These trails and paths invite residents to explore The Grow at a slower, more intentional pace while reducing reliance on vehicles.
Tree Preservation Zones
Designated areas where existing trees are protected. These efforts honor the land’s heritage, support local wildlife, and ensure that The Grow remains lush, resilient, and rooted in authentic Florida ecology.

Water Stewardship
Thoughtful practices designed to conserve and respect water resources—from efficient irrigation to sustainable drainage systems. At The Grow, water stewardship reflects a deeper commitment to environmental responsibility.
Wildlife Corridors & Crossings
